 Yoga is not a religion.  Here is a method of identifying oneself and mentally finding peace.

        Yoga is a group of ancient practices that were developed in India thousands of years ago.  It is still popular in the country today, and is considered a spiritual practice.  Many Indians see this as a way of attaining enlightenment.  Yoga is divided into four primary categories, which are Bhakti Yoga, Jnana Yoga, Karma Yoga and Raj Yoga.  However, these are just a few of the many forms of this practice.  Yoga has become popular in the West, and is famous for its many postures.

        While yoga is generally seen as just a practice in the West, it is an important part of Buddhism, Hinduism and Jainism.  For those who are followers of these religions, yoga is not only seen as a practice, but also a method that can be used to gain knowledge.  This practice has been going on for thousands of years, contemporary yoga has many different theories, and many of them are derived from Indian.
      The purpose of the postures is to keep the body healthy and fit.  Practitioners will often chant, and may also perform breathing techniques.  Meditation plays an important role in yoga, and many Western yoga establishments introduce the practice in a way that can help those who do not practice Hinduism.  Many people in the West are attracted to yoga because of its ability to give comfort to both body and mind.  Additionally, it is a great way to stay physically fit.  Many people who practice yoga consider it as a great way to improve their health or increase their mind function.

              
    The goal of some yoga practitioners is to attain oneself, which is called "melting into the atmosphere".  Samadhi is a complex mental state where a person can attain ecstasy.  The goals of those who practice yoga will vary depending on their religion and background.  Those who believe in Hinduism believe that yoga is far from being close to God.  Buddhists believe that yoga can help individuals attain deeper levels of knowledge.  Western nations place importance on individualism, so many people in the West will use yoga as a method for self-improvement.


    Yoga is a very ancient practice that emphasizes complete control over body and mind.  Many who use it believe that they will be able to gain insight into the underlying structure of reality.  A yogi is a person who attains a state of enlightenment, where his thoughts are exhausted, and he is attained to a kind of environment.  Yoga is a very complex subject which can mean different thinking for different people.  Even if one does not wish to attain enlightenment, this practice can allow them to increase their insight.  Even though yoga has a deep connection with Indian religions, it is not a religion itself.  Although the exact age of the practice is not known, it is estimated that it was present for at least 6,000 years.
